J. S. Eugene Butler is one of America's most respected choral composers. With over 800 published compositions, he continues to write for school, church and professional organizations.

This piece, based on the writings of Walt Whitman, makes liberal use of imitative writing and triadic harmonies and is an excellent selection for concert or choral festival.

Dr. Butler holds degrees from Oklahoma University, Union Theological Seminary in New York, and the University of Missouri - Kansas City. He has taught and conducted in thirty-nine states, three Canadian provinces, and England. Dr. Butler has a love and affinity for American poetry, especially Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, and e.e. cummings.

Eugene Butler currently resides and works in Overland Park, Kansas.
